From the thrift store to the food pantry The Salvation Army needs donations to keep some of its most vital programs going strong. We depend on community partners to assist us in our mission to help individuals and families in need.
The Salvation Army always needs food for our food pantry, assisting individuals and families with meals for several days and in our lunch program, serving individuals a cooked meal Monday – Thursday. We give approximately 65 boxes of food per month serving 325 individuals through our food pantry and serve 750 meals through our lunch program. It takes a lot of food to meet the needs in St. Joesph and Branch counties. Food items needed, but are not limited to:
- Non-perishable food (canned foods, pasta, cereal, rice, etc.)
- Fresh produce (our cook loves to use fresh produce for the lunch program) and we also distribute in our food pantry
- Frozen meat of any kind. Hunters, how about donating part of your prize deer to feed the hungry (only stipulation it most be professionally butchered.
- Baby food and diapers
